The summer school "Blue Growth: emerging technologies, trends and opportunities" is promoted by the Interreg MED Blue Growth Community and the University of Montenegro - Institute for marine biology.
The Blue Growth Community, , in which MISTRAL project is an active member, driven by the InnoBlueGrowth project, is involved within the Summer School on the emerging technologies, trends and opportunities from 1st to 5th of July 2019 in Kotor, Montenegro.
The Interreg MED Blue Growth Community is organizing a summer school aiming at encouraging young people’s involvement in blue economy sectors by offering high-quality technical knowledge and fostering their entrepreneurial spirit.
Blue Economy represents an extraordinary opportunity for growth, cultural, social and economic development in the Mediterranean with a significant potential for job creation and investment in the area. Nevertheless, there is a serious lack of education and training for maritime field students and workers for efficient capacity building skills, a relevant matching of proficiency regarding the expectations of the job market, and an improved integration of Blue Economy science into practice and policy.
This learning event for young graduate students, researchers, professionals, public servants and practitioners in specialized fields related to the blue economy address topics such as:
· Technological trends, R&D and innovation;
· Sustainable blue technologies for future societal development;
· International frameworks of cooperation, funding and investments opportunities;
· Transversality in the blue economy
Thanks to these various subjects, the Summer School will enable a stronger understanding between actors from different Mediterranean countries and facilitate exchanges between diverse profiles. Specific modules dedicated to transversal competencies such as cluster and project management, capitalization, communication or advocacy will also appeal to a wider panel.
This Summer School is organized in a context where the sector of Blue Economy still faces many challenges. Blue Economy represents indeed a perfect opportunity for growth, cultural, social and economic development in the Mediterranean area but suffers however from a lack of education and training for maritime field students, as well as from a lack of efficient capacity building skills for workers. The courses will, therefore, provide, amongst others, updated contents and curricula, support the upgrade of workers’ skills for a better adaptation to job markets expectations, hence helping overcome the current discrepancies in qualifications in the marine and maritime sector.
The application deadline is the 30th May 2019.
